Google pirate link takedown requests reach record high of 5.9m in a week

Google pirate link takedown requests from copyright-holders have reached a record high of over 5.9m in the week of September 30.

That's according to the search giant's latest Transparency Report figures. The Guardian reports that this amount equates to more than eight pirate links reported per second.

The current Google Transparency report shows that copyright removal requests received for search in the past month equate to 21.5m URLs, 36k specified domains, covering 3.5k copyright owners and almost 2k from reporting ...
