Guitar Hero III named top selling US video game

NPD Group reports it has generated $831m (?513m) since its release in 2007. It was followed by Call Of Duty: Black Ops with sales of $787m (?486m) and Wii Fit with sales of $736m (?454m).

Rock Band was also in the top five. Publisher Harmonix was offloaded at the end of 2010 by Viacom to investment firm Columbus Nova.
