IFPI: UK recorded music revenue down 6.1% in 2012

Recorded music revenue in the UK was down 6.1% year-on-year in 2012, according to the IFPI’s Recording Industry in Numbers 2013 report.

As part of the global trade body’s worldwide round-up the UK’s recorded music revenue totaled £835.2 million compared to £889.4 million in 2011.

Physical product dropped to $645.5 million in 2012 from $815.5 million (-20.8%) in 2011 while digital grew from $447.8 million to $523 million (up approximately 16.8%).
