IFPI: US recorded music revenue down 0.5% in 2012

Recorded music revenue in the US was down 6.1% in the UK year-on-year in 2012, according to the IFPI’s Recording Industry in Numbers 2013 report.

As part of the global trade body’s worldwide round-up the US’ recorded music revenue totaled $4.48 billion compared to $4.5 billion in 2011.

Physical product dropped to $1.53 billion in 2012 from $1.84 billion in 2011 while digital grew from $2.34 billion to approx. $2.6 billion.
