Independent labels and retailers reject global Friday release day

A number of leading retailers, trade bodies and independent labels have issued a joint statement calling for a Monday global release day instead of the proposed Friday release day.

In the letter, the signatories - including Rough Trade, ERA, A2IM, Amoeba Music and AIM - claim that a Friday release date would ‘entail additional costs for many in the industry.’
