Joel Klaiman is reportedly in line for a promotion to Columbia Records executive vice president/general manager, in the ongoing executive shuffle between Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group.
Klaiman is currently executive vice president of Promotion and Artist Development for Universal Republic Records and has been responsible for the promotion of artists such as Drake, Gotye, Florence + The Machine and the late Amy Winehouse.
In addition to becoming general manager, Klaiman will oversee the label's promotion staff.
Universal/Sony staff swaps started in 2010 when Doug Morris was hired away from UMG to run Sony, where he is currently CEO.
UMG then hired RCA/Jive Label Group chairman/CEO Barry Weiss to become chairman/CEO of the Island Def Jam Music Group and Republic Records Group.
