Kim Dotcom loses civil forfeiture against US

Megaupload and Mega founder Kim Dotcom has lost a civil forfeiture case against the US Government, which means that it now owns Dotcom’s assets, including cars, art and bank accounts –  worth around $67 million.

Millions of dollars in cash and assets were seized in 2012 after Dotcom’s New Zealand property was raided by NZ and US authorities.       

The US government alleges Dotcom’s property was acquired through money laundering and copyright infringement.
