Labour elects music champion

In a speech to the Oxford media convention yesterday, Lewis criticized his opposite number the culture secretary Jeremy Hunt and his DCMS team for showing a "lack of leadership" with the creative industries.

Lewis said the creative industries are a great British success story, but he also claimed they are in "peril of falling behind without Government leadership and industry cohesion." He then lambasted the Conservative-led coalition for praising the sector while providing it with little support.
