Dropping X-Factor ratings are reportedly costing ITV £15million in lost advertising revenue.
Audience numbers for Simon Cowell’s TV talent show have recently hit an eight-year low, with Saturday’s average of 7.6m viewers down 2 million from 2011, according to the Daily Star.
A 30-second advertising slot has since gone from £120,000 to £110,000 - resulting in a £15m shortfall over the series, according to media buyers speaking to the tabloid.
X Factor, which has a deal to run for one more year, accounts for 14% of ITV’s ad revenue from August to December.
