Sony, Universal and Warner are taking Ireland’s second largest internet service provider UPC to court in an attempt at introducing stricter penalties for illegal file-sharers.
The telecoms company was embroiled in a lawsuit three years ago with the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). The association wanted the ISP to disconnect file-sharers that had received two warnings.
The case followed a successful and similar lawsuit with Eircom.
