Matt Cardle's first album on an independent label has topped HMV's official weekly pre-order chart.
The artist's LP The Fire, due out on So What? Recordings on October 29, has been boosted by an exclusive deal with the retailer which sees a limited number of signed copies of the album sold to customers who pre-order.
The Fire has climbed one place this week in the HMV list, which represents pre-orders in the week ending yesterday (September 27). Lead single It’s Only Love will also be released October 29.
Former X Factor winner Cardle produced the album and plays most of the instruments. It's the second LP of his career, following the platinum-selling Letters, released on Columbia in October 2011.
Formed in 2010 under the Silva Screen Music Group umbrella, SO Recordings, signed Cardle to its newly formed SO What? imprint on a worldwide basis after the artist parted ways with Columbia earlier this year.
