MeanFiddler's licence application for the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival has been granted by the local council after last year's event went off without a hitch.

The Leeds licensing committee also approved a licence to see an extra 2,500 tickets for the three-day festival, increasing the total capacity to 52,500 per day.

Managing director, Melvin Benn says, "We are very pleased to have been granted an increased capacity. We sold out last year and expect to have another good year."
