South Korean rapper PSY is heading for the UK Top 10 this Sunday after sales of his Gangnam Style single quadrupled week on week.
The track, which leapt 64-11 this week on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, moves 37-6 in the latest UK midweeks with sales rising 389%, according to the Official Charts Company. The Island release has already made history by becoming the first Korean-language hit to ever chart in the UK.
Ahead of Gangnam Style, Epic/Phonogenic act The Script look like securing a second week a No 1 this Sunday with Hall Of Fame featuring will.i.am., while Ministry of Sound act Example appears set to debut at 2 with Say Nothing. Motown/Mercury act Ne-Yo's former No 1 Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love) holds at 3 in the midweeks, while RCA signing Pink progresses 5-4 with Blow Me (One Last Kiss) and Mercury artist Taylor Swift moves up 7-5 with We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.
On albums Vertigo/Mercury's The Killers are heading for a fourth straight No 1 with newly-issued Battle Born which by the end of business on Thursday was around 12,000 sales ahead of Pink's brand new album The Truth About Love at No 2. The Script's Number 3 drops 2-3 in the week to date, while Young Turks/XL's XX are down to 4 having debuted at No 1 last Sunday. Emeli Sande's Virgin debut Our Version of Events holds at 5, while Sony's 25th anniversary Michael Jackson reissue of Bad is new at 6 and Interscope/Polydor act Carly Rae Jepsen's first album Kiss is new at 9.
