Miley Cyrus set a new day one Vevo record with the video for her new single Wrecking Ball hitting 19.3 million views in its first 24 hours after release.
The 20-year-old singer broke the record previously held by the British boy band One Direction for their single Best Song Ever, which received 10.7 million views on its first day in July.
The video was directed by Terry Richardson and shot in Los Angeles.
Cyrus' first single We Can’t Stop was released on June 3 and No.1 in the US and 23 other countries as well as becoming the singer's first single in the UK .
The video for We Can’t Stop similarly broke Vevo's record for the most views in a 24 hour period. It went on to reach 100 million views across the platform in only 37 days.
Miley Cyrus will release her new album Bangerz, on October 8, which will include thirteen new tracks.
