Olympics opening ceremony draws 26.9m viewers, soundtrack sees chart success

The Danny Boyle-created, music-packed London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony drew a peak UK TV audience of 26.9m on Friday night and the event's official soundtrack has topped iTunes charts across the world.

Mr Bean actor Rowan Atkinson provided entertainment during the peak five minutes of viewing during the ceremony as he ‘played’ Chariots of Fire with the London Symphony Orchestra.
