MySpace moves into ticketing

MySpace moves into ticketing

The new platform on the social networking site also includes a calendar tool so that fans can follow what acts are doing, when tours are happening and when record releases are scheduled.

It currently has a database of around 1m shows happening this year.

The MySpace Events platform also allows users to check the calendar of friends on the site to see what shows they are planning to go to. When a user buys a ticket, their friends on the platform are also notified.

MySpace will take a cut of all ticket sales.

This comes after a period of immense upheaval at MySpace. Last year, the company switched off the site's auto-play function to save on royalty payments. It has also struggled to catch up with other social destinations likes Facebook and Twitter.
