Now That’s What I Call Music! 85 has sold 317,000 copies in its first week of sales making it the fastest selling album of 2013.
Hitting No.1 on the UK Compilation Album charts on Sunday, it’s also the first time a Now album released in the summer has sold over 300,000 copies since 2008.
Featuring 44 tracks, including Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, and Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, it’s the first volume of the series to be released under the new joint venture ownership of Universal Music and Sony Music earlier this year.
Steve Pritchard, Joint MD Now, said: “This is the most fantastic start to the next new era of Now, with both Universal Music and Sony Music delighted with this result. The brand continues to power forward and continues to resonate massively with consumers.
“There are many exciting things happening around the brand, such as the recent success of our Now Running App, and we’re looking forward to the next few months, with many interesting new tech developments to come and a great autumn schedule.”
The next release will be Now That’s What I Call Disco in August.
