Former Prime Minister John Major has said One Direction’s global success has increased “trust” in British diplomacy.
Major spoke about 1D along with the likes of Adele, Susan Boyle, the Royal Family, Downton Abbey and Premier League football, which he credited with boosting the country’s “soft power”.
He told a parliamentary committee at the House of Lords that few other countries had such a cultural advantage.
