One Direction have already picked up one of the biggest awards of the 2012 MTV EMAs, due to take place on Sunday November 11.
The five lads have been named the Best UK/ Ireland Act, having received the most votes from fans.
Rihanna and Taylor Swift are among the big runners in this year's nominations along with the likes of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj.
Rihanna’s Talk That Talk album picked up a total of six nominations including Best Female, Best Pop Act and Best Look. Her collaboration with Calvin Harris for track We Found Love also picked up nods for Best Song and Best Video.
Taylor Swift received a total of six nominations for Best Female, Best Pop Act, Best Live Act and Best Look and Best World Stage.
Justin Bieber is up for four awards at the MTV EMAs for Best Male, Best Pop Act, Best World Stage and Biggest Fans for his 'Beliebers'.
This year's ceremony will see performances from the likes of Taylor Swift, No Doubt and Muse.
