Kantar Worldpanel’s quarterly retail barometer has found that online retailers dominate sales in the entertainment category. High Street stores have seen market share in physical entertainment drop 3% year-on-year due to online competition.
Online behemoth Amazon now represents 17.6% of total spend on CDs, DVDs and console videogames, according to the survey. These products make up two thirds of its total online sales. During the 12-week period ending April 13, one in five physical entertainment products were sold through Amazon.
