Physical music shipments grow 9% in Japan in 2012

Shipments of physical music in Japan jumped 9% in 2012 to 218m units, according to new figures from local trade body the RIAJ.

The total value of the physical music market hit 227.7 billion yen ($2.5 billion), up 8% from 2011.

Domestic product was dominant in the territory, with total domestic repetorie shipments hitting 180.2 million units, up 13% from 2011 -a value of 192.2 billion yen ($ 2.1 billion), up 11% from 2011.
