Pizza Hut and Home Depot have denied that the production of adverts using songs by The Black Keys without the duo's permission.
In June, Pizza Hut and its ad agency were used the song Gold On The Ceiling in an advert for Cheesy Bites Pizza, while US DIY chain Home Depot used the band's hit Lonely Boy to advertise power tools, reportedly without either campaigns obtaining the necessary permissions to do so.
A lawyer for The Black Keys said the two commercials were a "brazen and improper effort to capitalise on the plaintiffs' hard-earned success".
However, according to Entertainment Weekly, both companies denied the allegations in court documents filed last week in Los Angeles.
Previously, the band's lawyers claimed that they sent letters to both companies in May with a request to stop showing the commercials.
