Music archive curation service Hidden Masters has partnered with PledgeMusic to launch its first commercial release - a six CD Jess Roden Anthology.
The fully re-mastered 94-track six CD set chronicles Roden’s career – from early days fronting The Alan Bown! through his Island Records’ years and beyond via Seven Windows and The Humans.
The Anthology includes never before heard demos, alternative mixes and number of live recordings.
The 1st edition of the package will be limited to 950 hand-numbered copies and presented in a 12” hard-back book format. The book holds the first interview Roden has given in 30 years.
Neil Storey, founder of Hidden Masters said: “We set out to create not just a career-defining edition for Jess but to marry his music to exemplary packaging… And, by working with the guys at PledgeMusic, we’re now able to expand on that and offer the fans something really special.”
Roden commented: “I suppose like many musicians who are no longer active, I’ve long wondered just what might have survived within the archives. Me and my bands recorded so much back in the day but one also hears these terrible tales of multi-tracks being thrown out and ending up in skips.
“Without Neil Storey’s Sherlock Holmes-like tenacity, none of this material would have been tracked down and would probably have been left on the shelf to gather even more dust. Neil’s unearthed stuff I couldn’t recall writing let alone recording… and, I have to say… I’m really rather glad he has.”
