The shortlist for the annual Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize albums of the year has been revealed – and met with accusations of being ‘too safe’.
With nods to Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, Jake Bugg, Savages, Villagers, Laura Marling and Foals it’s fairly guitar-led. Also on the list are James Blake, Jon Hopkins, Laura Mvula, Disclosure and Rudimental.
