New Culture Secretary Sajid Javid was appointed last week after the resignation of Maria Miller.
In taking the post, Javid leaves behind his position as Financial Secretary to The Treasury.
His appointment means that Ed Vaizey, one of the most popular Conservative MPs amongst the creative sector, is once again overlooked for the position.
Vaizey has been at the DCMS since the coalition came to power and is the son of Marina Vaizey – a leading art historian.
