BBC 6 Music is on the verge of reaching 2 million listeners for the first time after its audience hit a record 1.96 million people at the end of 2013.

Newly-issued Rajar figures reveal in the closing three months of last year the digital network’s reach grew 13.3% on the quarter and was up 3.8% on the year. This means around 70,000 more people were tuning in compared to the same time the year before.
