Rdio opens API to mobile developers

Mobile developers working on Google and Apple's operating systems can now make access Rdio's catalogue of 8.5m tracks available within their apps.

Users will have to be Rdio subscribers to stream full tracks in-app while non-subscribers can access 30-second clips.

Rdio launched its Web Playback API in March allowing web developers to incorporate similar access to its catalogue within websites.
