Relisir is a new site that aims to keep music fans up to date with when albums by their favourite acts are released.
The site is based on the premise that because so much new music is accessible in so many different ways, music fans often feel swamped and end up missing things.
Relisir works in a number of ways. Users can simply search by an individual act's name and see a listing of all confirmed releases and the dates they are available.
The site also makes suggestions of new albums and will mail users, after they have signed up, with reminders of when albums by their favourite acts are out.
The site describes itself as "a resource for any music fan wanting to find out when their favorite bands announce and release new albums".
It adds, "Keeping track of activities of a few bands is not that hard, but as that number grows, checking bands MySpace pages and official sites all the time, or waiting for emails from labels is not the way to stay informed. This is why we aim to do the heavy lifting for our users and conveniently let them know when a new release is coming out."
More than just exist as a calendar of release dates, the site already shows signs of wider ambitions. It already aggregates related video content based around the artists searched for.
On top of this, it allows fans of more obscure acts to add their release dates to the site if they do not already exist on the service's database.
This is currently as far as community elements go on Relisir but there is clear scope to expand this to build in discussion boards and integrate the site's content with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
It offers click-through purchasing to Amazon, with the site funding itself by taking a cut of any affiliate sales.
As Relisir is an American site, all album release dates and prices relate to the US. To reach scale, however, it will have to offer a localised version based on users' IP addresses given that release dates differ territory by territory.
