The RIAA move stems from a case brought earlier this year by Verizon technologies, who contested 1998's Digital Millennium Copyright Act that required ISPs reveal the names of its users. A US District Court ruled in favour of Verizon stating that copyright holders could not force peer-to-peer services to hand over details of its users. The RIAA's attempts to reverse this decision in the Supreme Court was declined yesterday.
