The RIAA has filed a lawsuit against free music app Aurous and its founder Andrew Simpson, alleging copyright infringement.
Filed on behalf of UMG, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Bros. Records, Atlantic Recording Corporation, and Capitol Records, the lawsuit seeks injunctive relief and actual or statutory damages.
Launched three days ago, Aurous is accused of running “a service that blatantly infringes the Plaintiffs’ copyrights by enabling Internet users to search for, stream, and download pirated copies of recordings.
