Rihanna’s latest album, Unapologetic, is absent from streaming services, for the time being at least.
The new album, which has given the star her first Billboard 200 No.1, is absent from major streaming services including Spotify, Deezer, Rdio, Rhapsody.
It is, as expected, available via a la carte download services, with the withholding from streaming services thought to be another case of ‘windowing’ for the initial release period – although no official reason or roll-out plan has been given yet.
The lead single from Unapologetic, however, is available on streaming services.
Withholding new albums from streaming services for the initial months of release is becoming increasingly common among big names. Taylor Swift’s Red is still absent from streaming services, with Rhapsody revealing that it would remain so for a period of months in October.
