Lauren Laverne has been announced as curator of Save the Children’s Christmas Tree Sessions, an evening of live music and festive readings at Islington’s Union Chapel taking place on Friday, December 14.
Spiritualized, Band of Skulls and Summer Camp, Fyfe Dangerfield, Josh Kumra and Kodaline are amongst those that have been confirmed to perform
Spiritualized’s Jason Pierce said: “Childhood is very precious, it should be protected and celebrated. I am happy to play at the Christmas Tree Sessions, and support the work Save the Children does to change the lives of children for the better. The Union Chapel has a great atmosphere. Perfect for Christmas.”
Best-selling author/columnist Caitlin Moran, writer/broadcaster Stuart Maconie and Thick of It/Mock The Week’s Chris Addison will be also contributing with Christmas-themed readings in addition to a cameo comedy set from stand-up Lee Nelson.
Lauren Laverne said: “It’s great to be involved in a global charity that provides such essential work for children both in the UK and overseas, especially when I can help support them through two of my great passions – fashion and music.”
The event will take place in the stunning surroundings of the Union Chapel in Islington, which recently came under threat of closure due to a housing development proposed by Islington Council. A petition is now in place to fight this decision and all listed gigs are going ahead as scheduled.
Christmas Tree Sessions supports Save the Children’s No Child Born To Die campaign. Support of the Christmas Tree Sessions will help the charity give more children the food they need and help them fight diseases and keep them safe.
