SiriusXM faces class action in pre-1972 recordings case

A class action lawsuit against SiriusXM will proceed over payment of royalties for songs produced before 1972.

In September last year, US District Judge Philip Gutierrez ruled in favour of Flo & Eddie of The Turtles, in their lawsuit against satellite radio company SiriusXM over public performance of pre-1972 sound recordings, having not been paid royalties on – or being asked permission to use – ‘60s hits including Happy Together, She’d Rather Be With Me and It Ain’t Me Babe.
