Sony Corp is facing renewed calls from investor Daniel Loeb to spin-off a portion of its film and music business in an initial public offering.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the call comes as Loeb’s hedge fund Third Point increases its stake in Sony from 6.5% to 6.9% - to reach a total of 70m shares - bolstering its position as one of the company’s largest shareholders.
