Spotify secures $250m investment

Spotify has secured about $250 million in new funding that reportedly values the music-streaming company somewhere north of $4 billion.

The round of funding, led by Silicon Valley firm Technology Crossover Ventures, will help fuel Spotify's global expansion plans, including launching in Japan.

Reports of the investment first surfaced earlier this month, but stood at a more conservative estimate of $200m.
