Spotify has partnered with Samsung to bring its streaming music  service to the electronics manufacturer’s Smart TVs, Blu-ray players and home theatre systems.

The deal will see Spotify bring its usual package of over 18 million songs to Samsung Smart TVs in Europe later this year.

Users will have to download an app on their internet connected TV, Blu-ray player or theatre system. Spotify playlists will automatically sync across all devices at the point of logging on.

The service will be included for all existing Spotify Premium users with a compatible Samsung internet-connected Smart TV.

Director of Content Services, Samsung Electronics Europe Dan Saunders said: “Great music demands great sound quality. With the new Spotify app, people no longer need to fuss about connecting cables from their laptop or tablet to Hi-Fi equipment. Spotify for Samsung Smart TVs and home theatre systems brings Spotify’s huge music library directly into your living room.”

Pascal de Mul, global head of Hardware partnerships, Spotify added: “It’s our dream to make all the world’s music available instantly to everyone, everywhere, and bringing our service to Samsung Smart TVs is taking us another step closer to turning this dream into reality.

“The television is at the heart of most people’s home entertainment experience, so it is a natural fit to make our music service available on internet-connected Smart TVs.”
