SXSW whips up interest for next year

SXSW UK and Ireland manager Una Johnston - in partnership with UK Trade & Investement - will visit eight cities from the end of this month to provide a briefing for local companies.

The workshops, which will kick off in Glasgow on August 30, and Johnston will run through issues such as:

- South by South West can be a gateway of opportunity for the UK's Creative Industries

- Demonstrate there are over 15 different entry points to access SXSW

- Show the UK regional and national plans to promote the UK Creative Industries at SXSW 2012, including Trade Missions, Trade Fair Stands, Networking Events and Showcases

- An education pack from UKTI which will include detailed information on SXSW (and Midem), including music showcase info and advice and tips on how to prepare for SXSW and where to access funding.

There will also be a presentation on opportunities at Midem 2012 by Javier Lopez, Reed Midem UK & Ireland Sales Manager and brief presentations from AIM, BPI, MPA, PPL, PRS for Music and UKTI reps.

In March 2011 there were 1,400 delegates from UK registered for SXSW Music, FIlm and Interactive. 136 UK bands performed during SXSW Music Festival.
