Taylor Swift has revealed her new album Red will be released on October 22 with first single We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together made available on iTunes at midnight on August 13.

In a YouTube webcast yesterday (August 13), Swift unveiled the album cover art online and revealed that the album title came from a song name on the disc - which was inspired by relationships over the past two years.

"I wrote so many songs for the album that it was hard to choose the ones that would make it," Swift said, admitting she had over 30 songs to choose from before narrowing the track list down to 16.

The young singer enlisted the help of several songwriters for the new record, including a duet with Brit Ed Sheeran that the pair co-wrote.

Swift also explained that she's been working on plans for a concert tour over the past couple of months that will take her "all over everywhere".
