New York-based distribution company The Orchard has acquired the catalogue of rock/metal label Shrapnel Records.
Launched in 1980 by producer Mike Varney (pictured), Shrapnel is considered the first dedicated metal label, with acts including Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Richie Kotzen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jason Becker and Marty Friedman.
