The figures, compiled by Pollstar magazine, show that The Police were the highest grossing band of the year in the US, making $131.9m (?66.1m) from their 2007 tour.
Rod Stewart was seventh with $49.0 (?24.6m), followed by Genesis at eight with $47.6m (?23.9m).
The top ten was completed by Kenny Chesney (number 2), Justin Timberlake (3), Celine Dion (4), Van Halen (5), Tim McGraw and Faith Hill (6), Josh Groban (9) and Rascal Flatts (10).
