U2's free iTunes album downloaded 2m times in 3 days after release

The surprise U2 album, Songs Of Innocence, released via iTunes last week, had been downloaded more than two million times on Friday.

Apple states that over 500 million iTunes users will be able to download the album until the middle of October.

Music Ally points out that two million downloads is still only 0.4% of 500 million, with a month left until a deluxe version of the album is made available at retailers.
