U2 top Pollstar list of 25 highest grossing tours of 2011

The 360 degree tour started in 2009 and ran through 2010 but the 2011 section saw the band perform in Africa, South America and North America, pulling in a whopping $231.9 million and selling 2,387,535 tickets at an average price of $97.15 each and 91,828 tickets per show.

British man band Take That came second in the poll with their record-breaking Progress Live tour taking $224 million.

Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and Roger Waters make up the rest of the top 5 and British acts peaking inside the top 25 include Elton John, Sade and Paul McCartney.

The 2011 list's combined total of $2.1 billion is approximately level with figures from 2010.
