Universal’s acquisition of EMI Music has been delayed in Brazil along with Sony/ATV’s purchase of EMI Music Publishing.
The country’s antitrust regulator, Cade, froze both mergers yesterday saying that EMI must maintain its assets and portfolio in Brazil and continue to invest normally.
Music Week understands, however, that the Cade decision does not represent a block of both deals, rather the country’s regulators have decided more time is needed to review the proposed integrations.
