UMG boss Lucian Grainge has revealed plans to open a new office in Silicon Valley in an effort to work more directly with technology companies.
Speaking to Hits Daily Double, Grainge outlined the reasons to set up Universal’s HQ in Los Angeles, saying, “I saw, as the business was evolving, how important the future of technology was and how we sit in and alongside technology, and what that learning process is, and what that ideas process is, and the delivery-execution process is. So, I wanted to be 45 minutes away from all of this.
“UMG will open an office in Silicon Valley to work more directly with entrepreneurs and tech companies there,” he added. “So I've been very satisfied with the move here. “
Grainge also revealed plans to launch Capitol Records in the UK complete with its own artists, creative team and resources.
