Just one in five US internet users were aware of Google Play in the second quarter of 2012.
That’s according to new NPD data, which shows awareness of the platform is growing, but that it lags behind iTunes and Amazon.
This improvement has been aided by the integration of Google Music with Google’s Android Market and eBookstore.
Meanwhile, Spotify’s consumer awareness reached 19% - double the level observed since its launch in 2011.
