US charts: Brits hit highest chart-topping tally since Eighties

UK acts have claimed their highest tally of US No 1 albums in a calendar year since the mid-Eighties thanks to One Direction's latest chart-topper.

The boy band's Take Me Home debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart this week after selling 540,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It is the Syco/Columbia act's second No 1 on the chart this year after Up All Night led the listings in March and the fourth in all by UK artists ...
