US album sales shot up by more than 40% during Thanksgiving week with British acts One Direction, Rod Stewart and Led Zeppelin among the 10 biggest sellers.

Nielsen SoundScan figures show 9.74 million albums were sold in the States last week, a 44.1% increase on the previous week, and down just 0.4% compared to the equivalent week in 2011 as consumers enjoyed some retail therapy during the Thanksgiving break.
