US download antitrust case can go ahead

The US Supreme Court has refused to bow to calls by the labels to throw out an earlier ruling that reinstated the antitrust suit.

In the Sony Music Vs. Kevin Starr case, it is alleged the majors conspired to set a minimum wholesale price of $0.70 (?0.45) per track for downloads on their own doomed Pressplay and MusicNet ventures in 2001.

This case was dismissed by a federal judge in 2008, but resurfaced after going through the appeals court.
