Vevo strikes deal with Apple to stream iTunes Festival performances from SXSW

Digital video platform Vevo has signed a partnership with Apple to stream all of the gigs from the newly-launched iTunes Festival at SXSW this week.

The iTunes shows in Austin, Texas begin tonight, with Coldplay supported by London Grammar and Imagine Dragons.

From today (March 11) through to Saturday, March 15, Vevo iOS and Apple TV viewers, as well as Mac Safari, can watch the gigs live as they happen.

Apple announced its first non-UK-based iTunes Festival last month, when it revealed that all five nights of the SXSW shows would be available for free as a live and on-demand stream via the iTunes Store on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC.

Performances can also be seen via the iTunes Festival app on iOS devices or with Apple TV in HD.

“The iTunes Festival in London has become an incredible way for Apple to share its love of music with our customers,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “We're excited about the incredible lineup of artists performing and SXSW is the perfect place to debut the first iTunes Festival in the US.”
