Music streaming service WiMP has appointed Andy Chen as its new CEO.

Chen has previously held a number of board position at companies within the technology and media sector and was most recently CEO at Preview Networks in Copenhagen.

He has also held senior management positions in companies such as MTV and Viacom.

"I'm extremely honored and excited to join the team,” said Chen. “There are a lot of momentum and disruptions in the streaming music space and I look forward to leverage WiMP's strong team and unique position to compete against some of the biggest players in this sector."

Chen will replace Espen Lauritzen who has functioned as Interim CEO since May 2012.

“The Board is enthusiastic to have attracted a professional of Andy’s caliber to lead the WiMP team,” said chairman of WiMP’s parent company Aspiro AB Trond Berger. “With his vast experience from digital media and strong track-record in building new online businesses, we are confident that Andy will bring significant value to the company.

“We expect WiMP to continue on its strong growth path going forward and believe that Andy is the right person to lead this development.”
